Love and Joy Gospel Choir was formed in 1987 by Dr. Tani Omideyi, and has for many years
been at the forefront of building relationships with communities both locally and around the
United Kingdom. With a unique mix of voices, this multiracial choir has performed a repertoire of well-known and self-written gospel songs with various appearances on national and international broadcasts including BBC, Granada, Sky and BBC’s World Service, and sung at major venues in the UK and abroad.
Famous for writing the tune of the theme song for Liverpool’s Capital of Culture bid, ‘We’ve got
the go’, Love & Joy Gospel Choir performed it in the House of Commons and in Brussels as part of the Culture Company’s delegation to Belgium to promote music from Liverpool.
Under Tani’s direction, Love and Joy Gospel Choir supported the Hillsborough Memorial Services, at LFC and Liverpool Cathedral, for more than 20 years, leading worship and singing annually during the reading of the names of those who lost their lives in the 1989 tragedy.
Now in its fifth generation, Love and Joy Gospel Choir continues to minister all over the UK, often alongside its sister Lighthouse Choir.
